Things to do this summer with the family!
I recently was suggested this great topic: what fun things parents and kids can do together this summer. I am excited to share what I found—a huge thank you to Patreon and Parents.com for the great article.
Summer brings out a sense of nostagia and wonderment. We all remember the smell of campfires, fireflies, and the activities that bring us closer to our youth. Friends, our lives are so much more enjoyable when we are connected to things that inspire the soul. Making time for ourselves and our families is becoming increasingly challenging, especially with the current cost of living. Some of us working two jobs to make ends meet has impacted families. Always working or performing a routine can distract us from enjoying life’s wonders.
If you are reading this, I invite you to list some things you would like to do this summer with your family. Maybe take some time to poll, or multiple answer sheets would be helpful, or you could make fun! The key here is not to feel like you have to plan an extravagant or expensive getaway. You sometimes set up a movie night, take a walk/hike, or try new food. No matter what activities fit your budget, remember it’s about making memories and soaking up the sweet, precious time that goes by so quickly. We truly can not get back to the time once it’s gone. Take the time you need to be present, observe and connect.
The article I found researching this topic has many excellent suggestions for activities to do with the family this summer. Some of my faves are below!
Bird watching
We recently put up a window bird feeder and have seen some beautiful birds like woodpeckers, goldfinches, and even some rare birds from Canada.
Flea markets/garage sales
One of my all-time favorite memories from childhood was going to garage sales; I now continue to do that with my family.
Pack a picnic
This is an excellent activity for the whole family! And who doesn’t love food?
No matter what you find yourself doing this summer with your family remember that its important to make the time to dedicate to enjoying life.
Happy Memorial Day weekend
